Mala Fatra National Park

We took an early evening drive through the Mala Fatra National Park, containing the Mala Fatra (Lesser Fatra) mountains. With the sun moving towards sunset, it cast a beautiful light over the scenery. Here are some photos I managed to take from a couple of parking areas along the road.

After the sightseeing, we went to a working sheep farm for  dinner. The restaurant is attached to the farm’s sheep barn! The Slovakian dish of potato dumplings with sheeps cheese and crispy bacon cost less than 4 euros. We’re now back at the pension using the free wi-fi to update the blog, check e-mails etc. No draught beer tonight, but we’re enjoying a 3 euro bottle of Chilean cabernet whilst we browse the web. Tough gig, this retirement lark!

Tomorrow, we have an easy 85km drive to the town of Poprad where we’re expecting dramatic scenery due to its proximity to the Tatras mountain range.
