Lychakiv Cemetery, Lviv

We took a stroll around the famous and historic Lychavic Cemetery, that dates to 1675. It covers 42 hectares (105 acres) and includes 300,00 graves, 5,000 tombs, over 500 sculptures and 23 family chapels.

There is an admission fee to get in, and an additional fee for taking photos. Cemeteries as tourist attractions – who would have thought? Anyway, there is an interesting mix of old graves that have been overtaken by foliage, others that are maintained with flowers and new, fancy graves with sculptured figures.
