Way Off Course

Below, you can see a screen-shot from my Delorme inReach map of our route from Kazan to Izhevsk (en-route to Perm). The route starts in the lower left of the image, at Kazan and initially takes us to the non-existent ferry, where we have to back-track. In the centre of the image, you can see that we took a northerly track that ends with a dialog box – that’s where we got stuck in the mud and had to overnight inside the Defender. As you can see, it is WAY off track.

The following morning, after digging out the Defender, we back-tracked south to Kizner and then took the correct route towards Izhevsk.
